Sitting on this lonely train out of hell town
Sitting here thinking real fast
Sitting here thinking about so lonely hell town
Sitting here loving my dead past
{deep sigh}
I woke up this morning on a bus out of hell town
No one to cheer me on
Waking up this fine morning out of hell town
No coffee to get me on
I sit by the bus driver and talk of the war
I sit here an think of battles that are over
Going to a nice place now to pick some clover
I stop and take a few pills
A little bit of happy poison
In my blood taking me to a nicer place out of hell town
Hell town is here and I have left it
It is back, in the background
Nothing here to remind me of hell town
Nothing here to make me so sad
Nothing here to remind me of hell town
Nothing here but a few battle scars
Battle scars that I fought in wars in hell town
Hell town was a brutal place to be
Gashes that have healed now
Now that I am out of hell town
Hell town is no longer the place to be.

I liek to sit in my basement and jam out on my acoustic guitar. My acoustic guitar, is going to make me a star.
I suggest listening to : The Magnetic Fields, 69 love songs volume 3, "acoustic guitar" song

This song is a pretty good extended metaphor for depression. I guess 'taking a bus out of hell town' is never easy, as you always seem to have a return ticket, as it were (to stretch the metaphor a little).

But for how long?
I liked these lyrics and am curious to hear how they would sound when sung. Do you have any music for them? If so, and if you can get it recorded, don't forget that you can share the audio file with us!
Thanks for your posts here.
Phil :)

Well, I can't write notes, but I can make a simple beat. Yeah, I don't think any of my "songs" will get recorded, but it is a nice thought to think about...
I like to think of Hell Town, being the part of the town I live in on the east side, or the bad part of the town.. and seeing the greyhound station and people packing up to get on a bus and take them out of here.
Depression? Hmm... Maybe depression...

A definite song of depression and the place you live in. We all live in this 'hell town' at some point.
hell town is here and I have left it
it is back, in the background
nothing here to remind me of hell town
nothing here to make me so sad
This portion was the positive step to looking back and saying goodbye. We have to do that a lot and I'm glad you wrote about the bad and then the good-the past and the now; away from hell town.
Just a simple tune still works for us if you want to (re)consider recording ;) :D

I love this! This is really good! I forgot that you play guitar... Do you have a microphone on your computer? You could probably record part of the song for us. Please? =)
I like this part the best: "Hell town is here and I have left it / It is back, in the background / Nothing here to remind me of hell town / Nothing here to make me so sad". Reminds me of my nostalgic moods. Bad memories just below the surface, but are always willing to bubble up again at any moment. *sigh*

Lacey,
This piece was really good. It seemed depressing. Strong words. I like.
