Oh, Buddy, my Buddy,
your golden fur all aglow...
so little time left,
I just didn't know.
I had hoped for more future,
thought there was more time;
now I grieve for my Buddy...
you always were mine.

When you chose me to follow,
you were a thorn in my side...
but in tiem, you had mellowed
and split my heart wide.
You'd wake me each morning
as the clock alarm plays;
you'd paw me and cry
and just wouldn't go away.

You'd stare at me, wanting,
for hours on end...
to get love and attention;
brushes were your best friend.
With big, green eyes shining,
you would beg for a touch...
you gave me your love
now I miss you so much.

Sometimes you'd annoy me,
always under my feet...
you needed so much attention
but your devotion was complete.
Sometimes you'd be mean
to your sisters and brothers,
but I couldn't resist you
when you'd steal my covers!

Dear Buddy,
I never got to tell you goodbye;
the last time I saw you,
it made my heart cry!
Oh, Buddy, my Buddy,
I still grieve today...
there was never enough time,
then you went away.

Your silent meows
were the sweetest I know...
you would sleep with me nights,
your love you would show.
Sometimes I still see you
on my bed, on the sheet...
sometimes I still feel you
asleep on my feet.

Buddy chose me as well. He would watch me work all day in my garden, and when I'd go inside for a break, he would come over and roll around, then look at the house. He knew he'd be coming in just to keep him out of the garden..he knew. So in he came. He fought the other cats, until I fixed that issue, with chicken wire partioning and swap exchange every week. Eventually he figured it out..and followed me everywhere, hence naming himself. Peace, Buddy. I wish I'd been there when you left this plane, but I did see you that morning at the vet's.

I can't understand people who don't like cats.

LOL Hawk...

It's been loosely discussed here, but I personally believe that it's partly because cats are so self-reliant seeming...so much their OWN cat! Cats comply with what humans want them to do, only if they themselves CHOOSE to accept those terms and wish to please their humans. If you don't give a cat respect, they won't give YOU respect! Cats don't follow human rules unless the mutual respect is there and the cat has accepted you into the pride, so to speak. Only then will they follow certain human rules, and go against instinct.

Just my perception through observation.
