I remember your green eyes;
like emeralds, they'd shine...
that hoarse little cry,
that told me you're mine.

Your fur was so glossy
like the black of the night...
you thrived on my love,
Dear Lord! I miss you tonight!

You were happy to sit there,
and bask in attention;
I'd pet you, and kiss you,
my love never lessened.

Now my pillow is empty,
and you swat me no more...
sometimes I still see you
walking my floors.

Your daddy you trusted
and loved with a passion...
your mommy you loved
in a different sort of fashion.

You padded into our lives
scared of people and life...
you blossomed, dear Blackie,
when we took away your strife.

You grew trusting and loving,
you were an angel in fur...
you would greet us with joy;
we loved what you were.

Loving you was a pleasure,
in the days we had left...
losing you was a heartache -
it was a terrible test.

You taught me to love,
even while we're in pain...
you never stopped loving,
even when life would rain.

Dear Blackie, I love you,
even now, when you're gone...
we could never regret
all the things we have done.

I loved you, I lost you,
but you'll always be mine...
Dear Blackie, I miss you,
but I'll see you, in time.

Blackie carried pellets in his body til the day he left this plane, from abusive kids while he was a stray. Leukemia had ahold of him when I took him in, though did not know. Though sick, he grew in size, and his fur got lustrous...the vet said from sheer love. *sighs* I was pregnant with my son, and bottle feeding Smokey, Pumpkin, and Bear in the bedroom, the night he died in the living room with my now ex-husband. He never knew how to play, so I taught him with a little stuffed piggie. I still have that piggie, on my son's shelf with my own animals from childhood, and his; he knows why I never sewed the rips..it is Blackie's claws, learning to play, that caused them. peace, my feline friend. You were a good one.

Oh, how you paint the picture of the power of love!

It is on the news how love helps those who are terminally ill, in some of the third world counties (like we live on different planets LOL) become productive and even joyous, without a change in diagnosis!

Thank you, penpainter. I write a poem for every cat we lose, though I have several I still haven't written yet...it is so hard and takes so much out of me, that I haven't gotten the courage up yet to write these particular poems. In the past 5 years we've lost 10 of our feline friends, and the sorrow is still outweighed by the love and joy we shared with them while they were with us on this plane. However, I know the time is coming when I must sit, write their poems, and cry for an evening. *sighs*

Writing these poems for my loving feline friends brings a river of tears, always. I'm not the same for a few days. Therefore, I will most likely write the several I need to still, in one or two days. Soon.

Again, thank you.

Hey Bambipurr, I loved this tribute toblackie, I think we find love where we can and animals are a sure bet everytime. I know blackie is happy now, who knows he might be the next kitten you acquire. Much love iblieve. PS. I wrote one for a black cat, but they won't even let me post it in back bar, guess I worded it wrong. LOl.

thanks iblieve. If I have time tonight, I'll post 3 more of the poems I've written for the many cats we've lost in our lives. I'm glad people can identify with these...of course, there ARE people that think being so attached to pets is 'silly'. Personally, I believe that animals DO have souls.

Wish I could read your cat poem. Could you send it to me in a private message?

Peace,
Judi

LMAO, I don't think you'd really want to read that one, it's kind of a play on words. Anyway I do love your poems and will read the others later today and the other three when you post them. Animals are as important to the energy of God as we are. Man sets himself on a higher level out of sheer pride and vanity. Animals are always willing to love unconditionally, most humans aren't. Once again I loved this poem. iblieve

wow...talk about same wave length!

I just replied to penpainter about one of my other poems about my cats..the one about Kit Carson, I believe, and said the exact same thing about unconditional love!
