The Bog

There's a path down which I like to slip
that I lichen to an acid trip
Through tannin stained waters
o'r boardwalks I wander
into the moisture of the bog.

The flora's sure to leave one flummoxed
as one traipses past the hummocks
pines and cedars merely meters
for the soil's nutrition peters
such are the contradictions at the bog.

The watchfull eye is kept unscreened
from fire-scarred trees and things unseen
like sundews sucking insects clean
300 inches of rain the mean
keeps things afloat at the bog.

The peat is piled here 10 feet thick
while sphagnum moss softens the step a bit
The domed formation seems to grow
while most activities lie low
and my observations are thus bestowed upon the isolation of the bog.

aw yeah, now thats what i'm talking about.
From the get go this burned the hairs on the back of my neck. I too have cried tears in my rock garden that left a bog i presently live in. torturedj
