Voluntary

Bold, bold the winds of winter blow.
Their trumpet blasts and stirring airs,
shrill fanfares heralding the snow.

The virgin snow of purest white.
Bold, bold the winds of winter blow
add background music to the sight,

Of hills and dales enwrapt in snow,
gone is the summers sweet love song
Bold, bold the winds of winter blow.

First off, great piece

It has some similar traits to forms I know of, but I wondered if this form has a name. The spondee start to the refrain really brings out the fanfare feel of it as well. Can we hope that like a musical voluntary, this will introduce a longer work?

I'm itching to give this form a try as well as the Clogyrnach which I learned of via another one of your posts.

thanks much,

Aaron
