Smile for me as I’m falling
Through the endlessness of night
Turn from me when I’m calling
As you’re fading from my sight
Save me from the darkness that draws nearer every day
There will be no hiding this time, lapse into the decay

Why is the world falling apart?
Reach for reasons, and there are none

If I told you that there was hope
The despair is just an illusion
Would you believe?

Leaves are dying
Trees are crying
As I walk into the cemetery
The gatekeeper frowns at me
Would you think it was strange if I told you
That it felt like coming home

There is hope still
And it is found in death
Why choose to live?
A cold comfort lies ahead
The scent of the soil to me is like a dream
And I am losing myself
Nothing matters anyway
I’ve already lost you

Won’t you join me? (Følg meg til kirkegården)
There is a clearing where the pathway ends
Don’t deny me
There are things that are worse than hell
You abandoned me in life
Don’t leave me here alone
Nothing happens for a reason
This was a choice that was made for you
We can leave the slow decay of time
There is a clearing where the pathway ends

Begravelsestien kaller til meg
Reise til svartskogen skal jeg
Og du ikke vil komme
Vi aldri vil elske igjen
Alle liv... vissen bort...

There is hope still
And it is found in death
And I am losing myself
Doesn’t matter anyway
I’ve already lost you

Ryan!
Great to have you back. You have a special style of writing to you and it's so great to see that again.

Is that the language that you were writing some time around the last time we spoke? I'm curious to know.
There is a strong message here.
As I walk into the cemetery
The gatekeeper frowns at me
Would you think it was strange if I told you
That it felt like coming home
Then you follow up with
There is hope still
And it is found in death
And I am losing myself
Doesn’t matter anyway
I’ve already lost you

Extremely powerful!
What a way to end this one too "Doesn't matter anyway, I've already lost you." An emotional smack! (As I would say)

Please post more. Why do you stay away from us for so long?

Hello, thank you for your replies!

Brit: No, the language that I used here is actually Norwegian. I haven't worked on my own language in a very long time; the only thing I've done recently is make up an alphabet, which isn't specifically meant for any actual new language project.

Also, those verses that you quoted are also some of my favorites, besides the main 'Begravelsestien kaller...' part. In cause you're interested in a translation of the Norwegian portions of the song, here they are:

Følg meg til kirkegården (Follow me to the cemetery)

Begravelsestien kaller til meg (The funeral path calls to me)
Reise til svartskogen skal jeg (I will travel to the black forest)
Og du ikke vil komme (And you will never come)
Vi aldri vil elske igjen (We will never love again)
Alle liv... vissen bort (All life... faded away...)

Meg and jeg are pronounced like 'my' and 'yai', rhyming on the long i sound. The other three lines in that verse, though, do not rhyme. The actual meaning of those lines may not be very poetic, but I think that the language itself is beautiful, and so works when sung.

I'll try to hang around here more. Thanks again!

Ryan

This is an absolutely captivating piece! I echo the quotes from Britt, and I also especially appreciated the lines, "Smile for me as I’m falling" and "Nothing happens for a reason" They can seem simple by themselves, but they contribute greatly to the entire song in my opinion. Great read- Lyly

A bit of mummified music and some digit dropping, zombie rockettes and i think you've got a hit. maybe a guru on the tom-toms to keep it a bit aloft... :groovy:
