desperate without conviction
still separate and the same
slipping into denial with nowhere to place the blame

disrespected one too many times to feel alive
this neglect is all that's left
disenchanted with the idea of dying
still frightened and bereft

alone and still between
the end and the beginning
dying in a space between action and thought
isolated and lost

no solace in this solitude
no content to be found
a restful slumber's waiting
six feet below the ground

wandering endlessly somewhere outside the boundary
just beyond the place where faith meets grace
only graceful with an infamy, and faithful to the enemy
only a soul caught in unrest

Thanks for the power read. I enjoyed it. I like the alliteration in the first stanza.

The first stanza kicks ass and sets the tone for the rest of the poem. An excursion into emotional darkness that I enjoyed reading, I guess because I have been there. iblieve

*echoes iblieve* the first stanza really does draw the reader straight into this poem. You have an ingrained talent for creating a powerful, seductive read. I hope you write more soon.
