Strike out.
The diamondback lay basking in the sun
way off the trail on a flat rock he lay.
He was not bothering anyone
quietly enjoying a summer day.
He was well fed and lay contentedly,
not threatening any passer by
He only ask that they should let him be,
only a fool would want to poke and pry.
But fools rush in where angels fear to tread,
the warning rattle sounds but is ignored
A single strike and soon the fool is dead.
There in the sky a single vulture soared.
The scavengers who clear up fools mistakes
will feast well now for as long as it takes.
