She wears black
to mourn
her life
she never lived.
She hums hymns,
chants for the dead,
lighting candles
in her memory.
She counts the beads,
fingers the cost,
raising hands in prayer
of forgiveness
for her sins.
She digs a grave,
plants the lillies,
sets the stone
above her head.
She sleeps in peace,
free at last
from the life
she never lived.
to mourn
her life
she never lived.
She hums hymns,
chants for the dead,
lighting candles
in her memory.
She counts the beads,
fingers the cost,
raising hands in prayer
of forgiveness
for her sins.
She digs a grave,
plants the lillies,
sets the stone
above her head.
She sleeps in peace,
free at last
from the life
she never lived.
