Broken Rainbows

There’s a box of broken rainbows I keep inside my heart
Where I put the pieces of the dreams that fall apart.
This one’s slightly tarnished, and this ones sort of blue
In a way they’re all the same ‘cause none of them came true

This ones sort of rusty, I guess it’s pretty old

There is no reflection because there’s nothing left of me

The box is pretty heavy now, it really brings me down
That’s why I only take it out when nobody’s around
It’s getting pretty full now, I guess that means I’m grown
And now that I’ve stopped dreaming, maybe it won’t overflow

darkfaze, I liked the concept of broken rainbows being broken dreams in the opening lines, that caught my interest. I personally enjoyed the way this flowed with its rhyme...it reminds me of something I've heard before, just the way it sounds...I wish I could remember what it is. This is such excellent writing, I'm impressed.

I love those lines, I love the connection between the experience and the actual object. This made me smile because it's just written so damn well, I wish I'd thought of it!

Every bit of someone could break just reading your heart in this song. You have strung the reader/listener with what you truly feel, and that's sometimes difficult to do as a songwriter. But with simplicity and perfected imagery, you have accomplished this.

thanks ducks. you might like the one called "pretty" as well, its sort of along the same lines. also there are like ten more songs if you click the "oblivicon" link near the bottom left of page. I'm in the process of rerecording some of the adult delinquent cd on newer equipment and with an electric guitar and amp but rainbows im not sure i want to change. the real media (rm) files are newer and the mp3 files older.
