Another one of my songs and another one about the recent Iraq war. I know it's long but I hope you enjoy. (The bits like this _____ are where I hold the note)

Fault

Verse1:
Why? Why does nobody come?
We can't suffer in silence for long
Who can free us from the pain?
Who will fight in our broken name?
No-one notices what they've seen
Why will no-one stop the regime_______?

Chorus:
And I_________
Still cry_________
For the souls of those that didn't die
And are living on the fault.

Verse2:
Why? Why would someone do such a thing?
No longer I sleep I only grieve
What about our loved ones still in the rubble?
Who will help us through the struggle?
We must avenge this unmerited crime
Against our darkening twin skyline______

Chorus:
And I_________
Still cry_________
For the souls of those that didn't die
And are living on the fault.

Verse3:
Why? Why must we wait for the world?
And oil prices are at an all time high
What about using the 11th scene?
Surely that would be good for the war machine?
With that we can start them to hate
And pick up the goods as we liberate______

Chorus:
And I_________
Still cry_________
For the souls of those that didn't die
And are living on the fault.

Verse4:
Why? Why are you going to war?
I'm sure we've been through this before
What about the people marching against you?
Why are you taking control when you are the few?
Some may agree but I garuntee they'll regret
Unless they are blinded and start to foregt______

Chorus:
And I_________
Still cry_________
For the souls of those that didn't die
And are living on the fault.

Verse5:
Why? Why has it not ended?
You said it was over but you pretended
How many children were killed by cluster bombs?
How many weapons have you found... none?
Get it sorted and let them run the place
Give it to the people while they still have faith_____

Chorus:
And I_________
Still cry_________
For the souls of those that didn't die
And are living on the fault.

even better Matt!! Great work here. I dont know if you have ever read "Tin Drum" by Gunder Grass, but he talks about during the rise of Nazi's how the most zealous put out flags on their balconies and slowly it came to be that not putting out a flag was a sign of dissidence. It was like that here in the US until people began to realize something was wrong with the war - if you didnt have a "support our troops" sign (the pro-bush statement" then you were somehow a traitor. We had an "American for Peace" sign in our yard. Some of my friends also had them and told me people would come and trample them and write obscenities on them. Didnt happen to me personally tho. Funny how in the name of "freedom" the first step is censorship and violence against any dissent. I thought that was what made saddam a dictator.

Thanks as usual Dark. I havn't read "Tin Drum" but I'll add it to my ever growing list of things to read. Agree with you totally (again). I tried to capture every opinion on the war in this one... from the Iraqi's themselves to 'corperate america'.

"Who will fight in our broken name?" This was my favorite line...it really stood out for me for some reason. Normally I don't have much patience for songs about the war, but you held my attention throughout the piece. Bravo!

Thank you Lyly. Normally my songs on war show mostly my strong opions but with this one I went away from that a little (but not too much).
