View Full Version : What is That Which Notices?

Air is drenched with aroma of eucalyptus
standing tall, nestling blanched blooms of oleander.
Twin peaks, golden glories, seen ubiquitously,
rise in contrast to Lucifer, whose signature they bear.
Coyote, frayed, frazzled, hunts in valleys
for rodent flesh. Dissolves in distance.
Beds of rocking wood float on water where
stout sea lions collectively speak to strangers.
Stories, thoughts, memories play out eternally
within a mind removed from that which notices.
What is that which notices?
I am that which notices.

michael, this is a very soulful - spiritual - piece.
every day i ask god to be in my eyes, my looking, my mouth, my speaking, my tongue, my tasting, my lips, my greeting, my nose,
my smelling/inhaling,
my ears, my hearing, my neck, my humbling, my shoulders, my bearing, my back, my standing, my arms, my reaching, my hands, my working, my legs, my walking, my joints, my relating, my guts, my feeling, my bowels, my forgiving,
my loins,
my striving/creating,
my lungs, my breathing, my heart, my loving, my skin, my touching, my flesh - my paining/pining,
my blood, my living, my bones,
my dying.
and every night i thank him for allowing me to notice - to witness!
you see so well,
:)

Thanks laleesh. My optometrist wouldn’t agree with you :D, but, within the past year or two, I’ve begun to learn how to notice, really notice - without the use of my mind. I think it’s part of gaining one thing as you lose another, but I ramble.
Thank you for noticing.

this very much reminds me of those times when I realized I was a mere spectator with no other part to play in the world's turning. the tree falls in the forest with or without us...

Thanks for reading and commenting, mb.
It’s sort of a way of “losing you mind”. It’s a meditative state in which you just notice without judgment. It’s a reminder that thoughts are not you and you are not thoughts.

this is simply wonderful...
I am dancing in these words---and brought up to silence by that last line...
