I have driven down Railroad Ave thousands of times
And never seen a train
I have walked a distance many times this land
Yet never found a place to rest my heart

But if you were to tell me
To sleep here tonight
I’d lay down where I stand

LaValley, LaValley

I have written down thousands of words and never found the ones
To explain the world away
I have spun in circles around in my head
Thinking it was meant to be a square

If you were to tell me
The stars are mine tonight
I’d believe you had the world in your hand

LaValley, LaValley

But parked on a July dirt shoulder
I found all the reasoning I need
By LaValley, by LaValley

I’m still standing there
I’m still standing there
With a yellow rose in my hand

Waiting for you
Waiting for you
To see me again

By LaValley
By LaValley
By LaValley

I have driven down Railroad Ave. thousands of times
And never seen a train

nice imagry and unrequited theme lily. you also did a nice job of running a paradoxical theme thru the piece.

A nice theme indeed!
You never cease to amaze me. I cannot help but sing along with your songs everytime I read one. It just comes natural to me. I sang this one out loud to myself in my bedroom, slow and a little bluesy. I love it.
Gosh, I'd love the opportunity to sing your songs!

But if you were to tell me
To sleep here tonight
I’d lay down where I stand

Simply beautiful.

And as always...
Britt
