the moon's a tooth in the eye of the sky
the sun is under the hill
the plain is gleaned to gristle and bone
the air is quiet and still
will you swing your tail with me?
shall we swing our tails
and tread the dusty earth as if
the sun will never fail?
the moon's an eye in the hide of the sky
stars are pebbles of dew
the plain is dark with dust and bone
the blood red dawn is new
shall we join in tooth and claw
our oldest dance, our primal law?

mb, I see an allegory here, an apologue of sorts. The rhyme scheme is well thought out and non intrusive.

This is the stanza which, I think, supports my interpretation. Getting even finer than that, “as if the sun will never fail?” nails it.
We can learn much from this piece, mb.
Nicely written and extremely well expressed, IMHO. In today’s world, we need this type of teaching. Of course, more importantly, we need people to read and listen.
