As a mother, she can be so cruel
so fickle at will,
do and be damned
let live, or kill.
She could kill me off
in the blink of an eye,
would let me freeze
and then pass me by,
would boil my blood
and leave my bones to bleach
and would not care
to place water in my reach.
But when she's good
she can be oh so sweet
and lay before me
exotic food to eat,
she will sugar my eye
with her summer arrays,
and share with me the bounties
of her softest days.
Her erotic perfumes
heady and strong
caress my senses all day long
untill the moon, arrives to greet,
with a silvery kiss upon the cheek.
But this fickle mother courts a wary child
who knows her moods can be violent and wild,
and so, with care, I walk this land
forever wary of her violent hand.

I like the raw conterpoint in this.
You've reminded us of the errant
thunderbolt, the unexpected tidal wave...

halfway thru you move us from edgy and deadly
to soft and succulent. Scary to sensuous.

I liked this piece
very much.

shark, a very accurate description of Mother Nature. She is unpredictable. I think she wants us to remember that this is her domain and that we’re merely visitors. Originally posted by shark

The use of “sugar” as a verb in the above passage is a creative stroke that contributes to the whole food metaphor.

Nicely done.
