View Full Version : birdsong
I fill the feeder for the cardinals
red splashes against the snow
”a special blend of seed”
the empty sack reads
”for the songbirds”
but I can't recall their spring songs,
not a single note
though I’m sure the voices
are beautiful. Did I mention
it’s damn cold?

In the summer they were an annoyance, when I laid in bed trying to sleep. But I do miss them now you mention it.
thanks shane, appreciate the comment.

Sir Mac ~ this finds me well. beneath the surface of common place doings, something more profound is spinning a web into reality, the mind creating invisible lines while it attempts to understand this experience. very well done and i thank you.

mac, i can't recall the springsong either, but that image of a red splash against the snow serves memory quite correctly! :)
i'm sure nobody can forget such a beautiful sight.

Indeed; the reading creates a vibrant splash of colour. Mind you; in England, we have no birds of that plumage...In London, all we have are the pigeons of Trafalgar Square...lol... Great read and a mild winter for me so far... Ron.
