a gust made ghost the entire coast

and tombs exhumed made
slimy wombs
to miles of doom
and carnage;

homes made rubble,
wind made
warrage.

marsh made
muck,

and luck made off.

luck made off, but they have you! and that is not just whistlin' dixie

your words capture the heart
the winds tried to blow wayside
while i see it has failed
and blood pumps thru the veins of the real

laleesh, you can get more mileage out of a word than almost anyone else I know.

The alliteration, internal rhyme, all of the synesthetic language works so well to produce the frustration of how the Gulf Coast got the way it is and how difficult it’s becoming to fix it.

I use the word “frustration” because, although Nature couldn’t have been redirected, the results didn’t have to be what they were.

Touching and poignant, laleesh.

Laleesh, this is why I keep coming back to your poetry. You make the tragedy felt so strongly.
