In An Autumn's Moment

I sat with the heron today
He was not far away
He was intent on his next meal
Staring into the rushing water

Rushing sounds of fast water

And the wind rustling through the trees
My thoughts escorted to the ground with each brilliant
Colour rich leaf

Surrendering to invisible forces

The sun and clouds disputing
For their dominion of the sky

Warmth and cold
Are mine today

And the snake motionless on the footpath
He too
Was cold

Timelessly waiting
For the clouds to yield
The Sun’s claim to the sky

So here we are

The heron intent on his next meal
The serpent
The autumn's sun
And
Me with my thoughts

All
Sitting here on the ground
Waiting

In an autumn's moment

Dale, “In An Autumn’s Moment” is a vivid picture of that moment.

Your frequent use of personification almost makes this piece read like an allegory. However, you personify reality, not symbolism.
My thoughts escorted to the ground with each brilliant
Colour rich leaf
These lines may very well be the most creative.

When I read this poem, your imagery enables your moment to become my moment. Thank you for that. http://www.clicksmilies.com/auswahl/natur008.gif

Dale, this was just lovely! I echo the others here, you captured the moment with clarity. I liked these lines particularly well:
The sun and clouds disputing
For their dominion of the sky
I don't believe I have ever heard it described that way before. Just marvelous!

I enjoyed, thank you!
