i need eternal spring. no more
changing seasons, no reason
for anything at all, but dreams
i want to be still, listen exclusively

to crickets and children's laughter,
breathe hyacinths each morning
freesias in afternoons, moonflowers
at twilight, violets forever

to slumber at the skirt
of a chortling creek, slip
slowly into nature, sun myself
at the edge of the world

Reneé, you paint a utopia in which most of us would like to live and you paint it vividly.

i want to be still, listen exclusively

to crickets and children's laughter
Your use of enjambment is very effective here.

Thank you, Michael. Coming from you, it especially means a lot.

Me too. Why is spring the shortest season?

I loved this Renee, I read it with a sigh. It’s been snowing in parts of the country here. I suspect spring will pass us by again before bursting into summer.

I don't know why either. It seems like spring just sort of melt into summer too quickly. I love this time of year, although it doesn't feel like true spring around here either. It has been rainy and cold - but I am hoping within a few weeks spring will emerge. Thank you, Shane!

You would soon be bored Renee we need the changing seasons.Without contrasts all would blend into a bland indifference, Bright Blessings to you

Thanks for the pic. Snow falling on springtime blossoms.

Ivor, you may be right, but I have had more than my share of winter and coldness this year! :)

Eternal Spring! Somewhere I guess it exists, but not in this lifetime. For now we must be grateful for our annual experiences.

I really enjoyed this one~ *s* Very visual!! When Spring finally does come in the North it is so intense...a true rebirth of life and hope after the long bleak months of Winter. I lived in Upstate, NY for my whole life until 6 years ago. All I can sAy is that I know the feeling you evoke so well in this poem but also yearn to live again by the turning of that endless wheel of the year.

Fenris, don't go dashing all my dreams! Can't we just pretend that there is eternal spring? :D

AlluraD, spring is so gorgeous and so renewing. I always feel invigorated when the sun shines warmly and everything is lovely and green and so alive. It seems like the plants are joyous - and it is contagious. :) I bet up state NY is beautiful this time of year. I have only seen pictures, unfortunately. Thanks for your comment!

Epiph, I love your reply. "chock full of the human season of being, and wishing". That is perfect. Thanks so much. :loveya:

Far be it from me to be a dream-dasher! I reckon eternal Sproing just takes a little finding, that's all!
