proud, unshaken
after the fall,
royal eunuchs tower tall.
patchy old madams
scratch through leaves of naked limbed
and nutless trees, clamor
for the golden keys
to killer zydeco pralines.
praline primos
and old pie crusts
another house
where the son rises

tall giants give up their fruit
so small giants can pack on a few
drenched in sugar oh so sweet

you know, accute_pyro, it is very calming to watch the old ladies scratching around in the leaves, whispers on a gentle breeze, and every now and then a burst of muffled laugther, low, deep from the throat, a secret society sharing a joke.
or maybe a toke,
who knows!
(the angles those old bodies are bent after those nuts, SOMETHING is extremely loose! LOL)

laleesh, we used to "harvest" the pecans off our tree by shaking it with a rope tied to the bumper of the car! this was the only way to beat the squirrels to most of the haul :)

aw, precious memory, huh, epi? we're like the druids in the oaks, after their mistletoe.
i guess those nuts are just as sacred to the squirrels and the little old ladies. myself, i am nuts about the peanut butter fudge they "sweeten" each winter. my ex-husband makes a killer candy and stocks me clear into spring, and if i'm not greedy, summer, with it. :)
yes, those pecans certainly help keep families together. LOL!!!!
