the sun drops west ;
on the treetops
rest sated scarlet-chested
featherguests
of flame.
low refrains
of scattered chant recall
a luscious feast
of ants
provided
by an early run
of rain.

Laleesh, you’ve painted a lovely picture. We’ve had horrible wet storms here, but your write brings to mind the post-shower magic that I’d forgotten.

alaya, thank you! didn't you post a poem about robins? it seems someone did, and i want to think it was you?
shane, that post-shower magic cost me a fortune!! last sunday i had to go and get all the boys (two grandkids and a nephew) each their own binoculars. they all wanted to see through mine, but oh no! mine hold too many sacred images; i don't want them shattered. :)
this week robins, last week yellow doves. we're all ready for the next flock, whatever they may be.

Beautiful language - 'featherguests of flame' is lovely. This poem made me smile. :)

ivor and phil, thank you guys for reading, and letting me know you read. this is very meaningful to me. :)
hey, i saw a robin in the branches today being unmercifully tormented by a pointed old, beady eyed crow. malevolent! the robin was pretty cool though and the only feathers that seemed ruffled were my own. :)

you look so damn cute with those feathers ruffled too...
ah, it's good to read your work love!
thank you - I so do miss the country and things like watching the birds and the clouds.
