View Full Version : Autumn 2007
sunrise on an empty stomach
the whisper of autumn
turns into a shout
leaves change colors
and slowly fall
last week’s green grasses
turn brown and wave
in a northern breeze
geese take flight
the cold rain has a bite
this is the time of change
memories of harvest moons
stored in the crisp morning air
like images of another summer
pasted into the old scrap book
and here i am
a grateful witness
to a new autumn.

ahhh...truly my favorite time of year. Perhaps it has always been so partly because of the nostalgia it always invokes. Thank you for this beautiful poem, my friend.

love the dichotomies
the whispers, the shouts
the green and the empty stomachs
this piece brings me headlong into fall after fall
(here, 'fall' is called 'winter' and lasts a month or so)
touching to the core- i'm grabbing a blanket
*peace*
