(A sonnet for my interior jungle)

They breathe into my face
like life at a glance
looking at my evil
and creating hope out of chance
with no rebuttal to the madness
their song is soft and sweet
emitting an unknown truth
that we have only touched in our sleep
the perfection I find
in the simplicity of their existence
puts my mind at ease
and helps my soul to listen
to the possibility of hope
the far distance of peace
yes,
they leave room to believe
there is still time for me

Our interior Gods are the ones we respect although we may pay lip service to one or other of the established relgions

hmmm...i guess Ivor is right, we have to respect our interior gods, though i might call them gods.....i do like your poem and its message of hope

this is about house plants.
hence: interior jungle
I think there might be a miscommunication , although I can see the larger spiritual meaning as well.
It's more (from my side) in reference to the beautiful living green creatures I have in my house.
(no harm meant by this comment)

hmmm interesting...i just read it again and nothing in the poem says houseplants to me...funny I guess how we all see things differently.

"they breathe into my face" is them providing oxygen
"with no rebuttal to the madness" is in relation to their displacement from the rain forest and transfer into our houses. Most houseplants are tropical or subtropical species
that are not native to where we grow them. etc etc . . . . They have so much to give us, plants in general, medicinally, structurally, spiritually. Maybe this is an obsession of mine but it is amazing one.

i see that as you point it out probably because i have the worst green thumb ever and have always failed at growing houseplants i have none and don't recognize the clues...that is a statement about me, not your ability to convey your meaning....:)
