winter painting

the sky's so white here
at wintertime
sometimes it looks like god took a paintbrush
and colored the world in watercolor hues
greys, whites, creams and pale blues
just a few subtle shades
branches barren and brown
flowers nowhere to be found
grass hidden under blankets of snow
even the sun a pale yellow glow
clouds milky creams
a few trees faded green
only here and there a dab of color
yellow car, red barn
little girl's puffy pink coat
interrupting the soft palette
all blending together to create
a picturesque white washed charm

i don't think i'll ever get used to
these pale white winter skies
