Okay, a quick introduction to Project Lifestyle.

I was sitting in my room in England. Looking around me at my guitars and skateboard. Feeling a little down and missing home. I had spent the previous two and a half years working and saving, hedonising, working and saving…

For property, back in Aus.

I looked at my skateboard. It hadn’t had much use. I looked at my guitars.

And I knew it at that point, I realise now, though I was still tricking myself into thinking I would put the deposit on a house or similar. It wasn’t until I got home and heard everyone talking about how bad the first-buyers market is now that it slowly solidified in my mind.

Almost four months later I am completing a fast-track first semester of a music performance course. I’m deferring second semester for several reasons, not least of which being the several aggravating factors that currently exist there. Mainly though, I need to get back into teaching. I need money. I need time to work on The Project.

It’s gonna take money and time.

I’m gonna try to limit myself to three days of supply a week. That should raise enough money to fund The Project and provide time to run it.

Did I tell you I was building a studio? Yeah, sorry, I meant to mention it. I’ll show you pictures soon. It’s nothing special. Just my old music room renovated. A place to play and jam and write and record and teach. I bought a cheap but pretty good Pearl kit. I bought a Marshall. It was way out of my price range but I couldn’t help myself. I’ve got my eye on this gorgeous blonde Maton electric, but the money’s running thin right now and soon I’ll need a car. Some of my software has arrived already and I’ve started sketching out some of the tracks. I’ll pick the rest up soon.

It’s always been about the music. Until now I thought Project Lifestyle might be about balance or some such but I see now it’s all about rockin’ this thing out. I do hope to find and maintain some balance throughout. Y’know, social, physical, mental, etcetera, all that malarkey. But I really have to do this music thing. All these songs bubbling out. Crying to be made. I wanna play guitar!

So, Project Lifestyle: Phase 1:

a) Joining or forming a band for immediate (or near enough thereto) paid gigging.
b) Recording a demo of five originals and recruiting band members for writing, gigging, recording and touring.
c) Signing up with Tracer for part time supply work.
