An endearing inconsistency of women.

This afternoon, Joyce and I went shopping to buy Joyce some shoes. It was a large shop with a big selection to chooses from. She hadn't had any new shoIes for ages - largely due to my recent mobility difficulties - but in need as she was, I didn't expect her to make a quick choice. This was a freedom that she was entitled to exercise after so long. After a while, she seemed to have set her heart on a particular pair of shoes, but was very disappointed to find none on the shelf of her size.
I helpfully grabbed a nearby shop assistant and asked if there were any shoes of that style, but in Joyce's size. She brightly assured us that she had. Strangely, it seemed to me, Joyce immediately started to lose interest in them. Further reflection resulted in an equation that seems true of many of my women.
Desireability exists in inverse proportion to availability!
Strangely enough it seems to make them more loveable.

But did she get new shoes? LOL it is a universal truth about women you have stumbled on - I am only glad you think it makes us more loveable.
And how are you my friend? I have not spoken to you in forever it seems - I have had no internet for months and months and I miss you all soooo much! Big hugs!Posted 12-15-2009 at 09:01 PM by Beki

Interesting comments y'all. I guess that that particular equation is mixed with others, and that some of us men do have a feminine side John. As far as I'm concerned, the sooner I'm in and out of the shop the better. If I see what I've gone for I grab it, pay and get out, and that applies to most of the men I know. Sometimes I find that I could have got it for less money elsewhere, but then my time's worth more than the difference in price.
And she got two different pairs Beki! And is still happy with them now she's home with them, which is different to how my mother was. I remember her in tears as she viewed her new hat in the mirror. Purchased, it seemed, because none of her friends had one like it, she belatedly discovered that there was a good reason why they hadn't bought one! It just wasn't fashionable - which is another dictate of desireability to the female mind in my experience. Not so loveable, as it inevitably means more expensive! Not my problem though, as Joyce is no fashion fiend. Just as well, seeing as she chose me!
Glad to see you back Beki. I've missed your elegance of expression, although I've not indulged in much haiku of late. I've been a bit occupied with health issues (rather better right now) and completing my book. And Pirra, I've no Schofield relatives in the Antipodes. A cousin on my mother's side and a couple of nephews from my sisters in New Zealand. I guess it's your descendants that'll get the benefit or whatever of the Schofield gene. Nice to hear from you
