High Country of the Mind Uninhabitable

Posted 12-13-2012 at 01:34 PM by goldenmyst

In my teenage years I made an error which set me on path of suffering. I read a book called "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance." Reading the book wasn't an error. However, I overlooked critical parts of the book. In the book the author Robert Pirsig speaks of his former persona. whom he calls Phaedrus. Phaedrus lived in another world. He lived in the high country of the mind where cultural values and beliefs were discarded. However, later in the book the new, post psychiatric treatment,...

Oh, memory why do you haunt? what ghost of Christmas past lies waiting beyond the damn of forgetfulness? In my absence of life, what treasures lie buried in the tempest of my mind? Desperately I cling to things long past, and the bitch of my sub conscious plays hide and seek with my holy grail.

It is December 10th 2012, I work at one of the largest health insurance companies in the USA. I used to write poetry (I think) I don't know who I used to write about in most cases. I was in...

I just don't remember

Posted 11-24-2012 at 11:18 PM by Bryan

I have known for a long time that my memory is poor at best. It seems however that it is worse than I ever thought. I don't remember most of my life. Nothing at all before I was like 13, and it seems very little after that. I never "missed" anything as I went I would remember the things I did from one day to the next and even into the coming weeks. As those weeks become years though I lose them. I was going through some photo's when I realized that I have lost complete memory of some people....
