I just don't remember

Posted 11-24-2012 at 11:18 PM by Bryan

I have known for a long time that my memory is poor at best. It seems however that it is worse than I ever thought. I don't remember most of my life. Nothing at all before I was like 13, and it seems very little after that. I never "missed" anything as I went I would remember the things I did from one day to the next and even into the coming weeks. As those weeks become years though I lose them. I was going through some photo's when I realized that I have lost complete memory of some people....

Grump for today. The Church of England (and others)

Posted 11-20-2012 at 03:18 PM by tony schofield

So – the Church of England is still refusing to have women as bishops. And they wonder why most folk view the C of E as an irrelevance! They actually believe that for the office of a bishop, the possession of a penis is more important than the possession of a brain! Man boobs are OK for the episcopal office, but not breasts!
I have some news for the Church of England. Your official head (Queen Elizabeth 2) doesn't have a willy!!!!!! Isn't it time that you put your house in order?

While Congress discusses discussing the so-called "fiscal cliff", I've been facing a cliff of my own: the eventual displacement of 32-bit processors by 64-bit. I write a lot of my own software for both home and work, using an ancient, 16-bit (DOS-based!) compiler/linker bequeathed me by a former employer. And 64-bit platforms will not run 16-bit code.

There are workarounds, I was told. A free download...

Grump for today - Women's Magazines

Posted 11-05-2012 at 04:01 PM by tony schofield

What is it about women's magazines? Why do they all look the same? Why do they have titles like “Love It!” AND “Pick me Up!” When according to their covers they're full of stories like “Raped by my Grandad,” “Next door's Rottweiller ate my child!” or “My Lovely Son Arrested for Indecent Exposure!” Promise of material that'll really cheer you up – NOT.
I'm not an avid reader of this bilge, but when I have ventured a glimpse of it, the people pictured don't do the things...

An Act of Humanity

Posted 11-03-2012 at 07:56 PM by goldenmyst

Something incredibly wonderful happened today. I was checking out at Walmart with an African American cashier. She struck up a conversation with me about the herring dipped in tomato hot sauce I was buying. Then as I was paying my credit card wouldn't work. So I told her to take out about a third of the items. She appeared to do so. I told her I needed to get the purchase below $20 to use my other card. She offered to cover the difference to get it below $20. I paid for the items with the other...
