Humanity as predator

I've recently had some sad reflections concerning humanity - largely resulting from the sentencing of a British teacher in the Sudan to 15 days imprisonment for allowing her class to name a teddy bear "Mohammed", after one of the children in her class. This was viewed as blasphemy, and she could have been sentenced to forty lashes.

Following this, there have been large crowds in Khartoum demanding the death penalty for this woman.

First of all, let’s get something straight. Philip Pullman (author of the Golden Compass series) is not an atheist. He is an agnostic. This is a direct quote from his website: ” I don’t know whether there’s a God or not. Nobody does, no matter what they say. I think it’s perfectly possible to explain how the universe came about without bringing God into it, but I don’t know everything, and there may well be a God somewhere, hiding away.”

Philip Pullman is not anti-God....
