Chat - Using mIRC
Talk with others AC visitors in real time and use IRC to do it.

If you prefer you can connect to Arcanum Cafe's chat room directly using IRC software such as mIRC. This software not only gives you more control over the chat experience, but allows the transferring of files and gives you access to thousands of other internet users discussing just about everything under the sun. Just go to http://www.mirc.com/ to learn more about mIRC and download the latest version. Follow the instructions on their website to install, usually just a matter of double-clicking the file you downloaded.

When you run the software for the first time you need to enter some info in order to connect to AC's room. There will be a dialog box that automatically shows up. There you'll see a button right beside "IRC Servers" called Add. Click it and add this appropriate info below

Once thats done, click okay. Then enter in your vitals in the other boxes... like name, email address and most importantly your choice of nicknames to use. Then you can either just click the 'okay' button or if you want you check out the other option and set them as you want. If you're new to IRC or mIRC and don't want to be bothered, then click okay.

Now at the top left you should see a lightning bolt icon in the main screen. Clicking this will connect you to the stratics server. After it connects you will have a screen pop up asking what room name. Enter #ArcanumCafe and enjoy.

If you want to automatically be connected to AC's chat room when you connect, then back under the mIRC options box, click "IRC" then select the "Perform" options. After making sure the checkbox is checked, enter the following in the box: /join #ArcanumCafe

In our chat room you will see a @ChanServ. This is just a 'bot' (robot) that keeps our room available so don't bother trying to chat it up.. he's not talkative. If it's otherwise empty, then you can always type /list in the 'status' window to get a full list of other chat rooms on that server.

Notes: Our chat room is on a public IRC server, so the nickname you select may be taken. If so just select another or add "ac-" as a prefix.
