A little over 2 years ago I wrote my first blog about the birth of my grandson (by love, not blood)Jayden whose parents were my son's best friend and my son's girlfriend. At the time they told us they were having a baby Matt was prepared to take responsibility for the baby and the baby's mother in every way except marrying her, and he did - I have been very proud of him and how he really stepped up to the plate financially emotionally and spiritually. He remained adamant he was not going to marry...

so he texts me a message 10 minutes before I am to leave for work "call me BEFORE you go to work" - I do and he says take an overnight bag...seems he is here in town, just tonight - when I don't get off till 9pm and work is at least an hour from where he is. "Just tonight", when he promised me a few days when he finally came. Yesterday and today are the two year anniversaries of Caleb's surgeries and the beginning of our nightmare. It was not lost on me that Jayden was born early THIS week....and I am grateful that from now on we will always have a happy memory during this week to weaken the bad....but today and yesterday were still very very hard. My daughter did not even realize what day it was when she called me in tears and said she had been to a book sale and seen something Caleb would like and bought it thinking...

I think having a blog here at the cafe will be great fun and today seems the perfect time to start it with the news of the birth of my new grandson Jayden. He s not biologically my grandson but the child of Matt (Caleb's best friend) and Shannon (Caleb's girlfriend) who spent one night consoling each other in their shared grief that resulted in Jayden.
