and. if it was not for just 1 single extra particle of matter, anti-matter would have 'won'.
I think you mean, if there hadn't been just a little bit more matter in the early universe, then the antimatter would have met and annihilated all the matter, and the universe would be empty. 1 single extra particle isn't going to do much though. Certainly not going to create the stars and planets and cosmic dust of a trillion galaxies. (Or however many there actually are in the universe)

nope as far as i know, the balance would simply be entirely different with 1 single particle of anti-matter. so i mean what i mean. but you can carry on lecturing if you wish....

That is different from my understanding, but I don't care enough to further discuss it.

pip. truly interesting.

in the reading ive been doing into monsanto & gm foods et al, i just fear it now almost impossible to have a little 'safe-haven' of plant material. anywhere on the planet. but then i am the ultimate pessimist.

I share this fear. Monsanto and its genetic patents are a menace to free agriculture. Another artifact of a hopelessly distorted legal system.

I have a friend who specializes in "vermiculture". You've never seen such healthy plants (or tasted such delicious plants)! And no mutations necessary... we are too clever for our own good sometimes. Most times, perhaps.

Love the rich soil story. Was thinking or am thinking how this might apply for or to writing. By using what is already written?

Building on the rich soil of posterity (classics, customs, folklore, etc.) rather than the barren landscape of egoistic intellectualism?

Yeah, really interesting gardening story, piph! I'd like to read more about this!

I use lots of mulch on my flower gardens (I have several) and need to do the mulching 3x from spring through fall because the mulch decomposes. I like to keep 1-1/2 - 2" of mulch on top of the garden bed to hold in the moisture. STILL, though, I have to water my gardens regularly unless it rains every day which is quite rare. And there are an abundant amount of weeds which take work to remove. It's a lot of work but it's worth it. I love flowers!

some contemporary writers apropriate. isn't that the same
as taking soil or toppings from one spot to another
in order to grow something.

I cleared some land last year to begin total organic growing this spring...
(boi-intensive method), all raised beds, some greenhouses, totally controlled soil,
well water, heirloom seeds, mushrooms and berries.

and by next year I'll be into the vermiculture aspect, and even selling the soil I make.
I'll be starting plants in 2-3 weeks.
