Default Laughing God

Somewhere, God is laughing,
a huge bellow
that shakes the sky
makes mountains tremble
forms the wind that tumbles down
caressing and bending
long stems of dry prairie grass
which bend and rustle
in quiet obeyance
not unlike the sound a long silk dress made
waltzing
at some longforgotten party

Somewhere, God is laughing.
If only, I could remember how.

Thank you, both. For some reason, Texas springs to mind. I think I lost his laughter there and now it's time to reclaim it.

This is obviously a work in progress.

Peace,

Sierra

this poem (and Sireen's comments about it) reminded me of this said by Meher Baba:

"Life is a mighty joke. He who knows this can hardly be understood by others. He who does not know it finds himself in a state of delusion. He may ponder over this problem day and night but will find himself incapable of knowing it. Why? People take life seriously, and God lightly; whereas we must take God seriously, and life lightly. Then we know that we always were the same and will every remain the same — the originator of this joke. This Knowledge is not achieved by reasoning, but it is the Knowledge of experience. "

this is why God is laughing, and we forget how, perhaps?

Or is he crying? Makes you think of the rainy days and sunny days. If such were pertained to the action of God...then He laughs more in some places, and cries more in others.

Good piece, esp. the last two lines. Describes a whole lot of us.

...But then this God I’m screaming to
Comes down and slowly points to You;
A beaten man upon a cross
Who gave His life so that His loss
Would be my gain of life once more
As all His blood begins to pour
Out down onto this filthy heart
Which still cannot deserve a part
Of You.

This world failed me miserably
But You, my God, completed me.

No Wonder God laughs

that laughter lingers,
echoes the call...

sometimes
it sounds more distant
but it is always only here, now...

remember that laughter
is contagious.

a wonderful epidemic.

much love,
Brom.

You all have written such wonderful replies. I am glad this provoked some laughter and the memory of laughter.

Yup, God's gotta have been laughing, at least when he made us.

I'm also sure we make him cry, but then, we wouldn't be human if we didn't.

Peace,

Sierra
