like necronauts the living loom
to raise their dead from fiery tombs,
and priests
like crows in royal plume
smoke the room
in myrrh.

masses said
and witchuals ended,
saints to bed
and womb cemented,
just beyond the graveyard posts
the dear depart with tears
and toasts
and from the threshold
praise their hosts
to high
and final heaven -

ghosts
no more!
