Default A Man Without A Country - Kurt Vonnegut

Well folks, Kurt Vonnegut has come out with a new book, his first in six years or so. I just read the snippets on Amazon.com. What I gather from the customer reviews is that much of it is old Vonnegut ideas. However, the readers said it provides a great epilogue to his career and is classic Vonnegut.

They just don't write like this anymore. The parts I read were the real thing. Vonnegut is 82 years old. His wit and candor are still unequaled.

Here is a PBS interview with him: Vonnegut

Thank you. I enjoyed watching the interview immensely. And I agree that his wit and candor is still paramount. (candor--my new word).

I have heard great things about this book. I just recently finished reading his book Breakfast Of Champions, and it has been by far my favorite read by Vonnegut.

I concur with your choice of "Breakfast of Champions"

I read many Vonnegut books in high school and that one appealed me the most. Slaughter-house five had some great moments, particularly the end of his introduction where he talks about the story of Lot's wife. Harrison Beregeron is a great short story as well. I'm probably more of a fan of his prose style than his content which might explain why I eventually moved on to other authors.

It might also explain why I have never liked any movie version of his novels. (I haven't dared watch the direct to video, Breakfast of Champions with Bruce Willis) None of them seem to capture his distinctive style.

to me anyway...
